The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a dark, voluptuous wine bursting at the seams with dark fruit. There is good depth and richness in the glass along with plenty of dark red fruit, attractive floral notes and fine overall balance, even if this is a fairly conventional style. I especially like the way the wine fleshes out on the finish. The 2009 is made in a more fruit-driven style than the 2008, which comes across as a bit more textured. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2021.
I was impressed with the three wines I tasted from Knighton Family Vineyards. These Cabernets generally include 4-5% Petit Verdot and are aged in 100% new Taransaud oak barrels.
